Similar to classes being like a Platonic definition of what an object is, and an object's being an instance of that class; a parameter defines the datatype of what is passed to a function, whereas an argument is a specific instance of a piece of information - matching the parameter's datatype - being passed to a function.

In Electronics, a Parameter is the scope of possible variations when it comes to the transmission or storage of a signal.

In Digital Electronics, a signal may vary between two possible states:
