# Termux Desktop Environment

Howdy folks. This one is to show you how to make your phone look like a desktop and install cool desktop environments like xfce4.

In resume, we will install a desktop environment, install and run a VNC server which will serve a graphical display to a VNC viewer app. Capiche? Good!

# X11-repo

X11 is a windowing system. So if you install the X11-repo on termux, that means you'll get access to some X11 windowing goodness (desktop environments included). So what are you waiting for? Run this command now:

```
pkg install x11-repo
```

# XFCE

XFCE is a lightweight desktop environment built on GTK+. Once you play with it later, you will see some menus, some icons you can click on, perhaps a toolbar, and the current time displayed in the corner... the usual desktop feel.

Install:

```
pkg install xfce4
```

# TigerVNC

TigerVNC is a vnc server available in the termux repos.

Install:

```
pkg install tigervnc
```

## Run

To run the vnc server:

```
vncserver -localhost
```

The first time you run this, it will ask to create a password. Remember it.

Then export the **DISPLAY** variable. This should be the number / id of the display you want to serve.

```
export DISPLAY=":1"
```

## List

To list all currently running displays:

```
vncserver -list
```

## Kill

You might have multiple displays you would like to remove.

This is done like: vncserver -kill displayID.

```
vncserver -kill :1
```

## Setup The Server

There will be a hidden directory ".vnc" in your home. Inside, there will be "xstartup" file. This file is a script that will be invoked when starting the vnc server.

Edit the file with nano:

```
nano .vnc/xstartup
```

Then replace all the text by:

```
#!/data/data/com.termux/files/usr/bin/sh
xfce4-session &
```

# VNC Viewer

Download and install this app :
[VNC Viewer](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.realvnc.viewer.android).

Connect to 127.0.0.1:5901 for display :1
or 127.0.0.1:5902 for display :2, etc.

Enter your password.

Then there you go! Click on every icons.
