Introduction

Microsoft Windows, commonly referred to as Windows, is a group of several non-free graphical operating system families, all of which are developed, marketed and sold by Microsoft. Each family caters to a certain sector of the computing industry. Active Microsoft Windows families include Windows NT and Windows IoT, these may encompass subfamilies, e.g. Windows Server, or Windows Embedded Compact etc.

Microsoft introduced an operating environment named Windows on November 20, 1985 as a graphical operatig system shell for MS-DOS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces (GUIs).

Eventually Microsoft came to dominate the world's personal computer market with over 90% market share.

Windows OS is also used on tablets and smartphones, and even the Xbox One console.

Windows OS was developed by Bill Gates and other developers.

Excellent Virus Protection - With the arrival of Windows 10, the quality of the antivirus software has greatly improved. New and improved applications make it more difficult for malicious parties to infect Windows 10 computers with malicious software. Consider, for example, the new functionality Windows Hello. This allows the computer to be unlocked with a fingerprint, iris scanner or face recognition. This is more difficult to hack than a standard password. Windows 10 can also further encrypt files automatically when it notices that a computer has been infected with malicious software.	Lost Applications - There are some programs offered by Microsoft Windows that are not longer offered on Windows 10. For example; Windows Photo Viewer is removed in this version, however there are substitutes from 3rd party providers.
Touch Screen for hybrid devices - In Windows 10, an exclusive touch-view is activated when the users use the touch screen on tablets, phones and touch screen computers. This makes it easy to switch between devices that have a laptop mode and a tablet mode. In tablet mode, even the start menu, the start button and the taskbar are availiable. These functionalities are customized so that they are easy to operate.	Compatiability - Some older programs and hardware may not be compatiable on Windows 10, which can cause a headache.
Lighter and faster operating system - Windows 10 functions much faster than older Windows versions. The operating system is more efficient and therefore requires less processing power from the hardware. The start-up time to load applications and the battery consumption on laptops have all improved compared to previous versions.	Possible privacy problems - Microsoft is mysterious about the user-data that is collected in Windows 10. It is known that there are analysis tools that track computer behaviour. These applications are automatically installed in the standard installation and can be disabled during an advanced installation. The question remains however, which information Microsoft exactly collects and how they use this data.
Ease of Use - IF you are familiar with easier versions of Windows, then you will really like the newer versions, the style has not changed, and Windows 10 is even more easier to use and user friendly as well as it being very familiar as compared to Linux and Mac.	Additional Expenses - After setting up your Windows computer, you may need to buy more software provided by Microsoft, such as Microsoft Office, or Microsoft Azure, this can be highly frustrating, as most of these packages run on subscription fees (IE you pay once per month / year rather than buying it outright).

Microsoft has created a really nifty operating system where a user can easily access the features and can enjoy using the UI at the same time. Windows is also the main staple of what a operating system should be as they control 90% of the market. If you are doing programming, using a Windows computer is good, but a Apple Mac may also be good to make IOS apps (you can bypass this by using virtual machines). Windows is the way to go however!
