One Piece

This anime revolves around a boy named Monkey D. Luffy, who accidentally ate a Devil Fruit. This caused his body to gain the same properties of rubber. Inspired by the pirate “Red Haired” Shanks, Monkey forms his own group of pirates called the Straw Hat Pirates. Along with his pirate crew, he explores the world, hoping to find the ultimate treasure known as the “One Piece” in order to become the next Pirate King.

Naruto

This anime tells the story of a young ninja named Naruto Uzumaki, who dreams of becoming recognized by his peers and becoming the Hokage, the leader of his community. The first part takes place during his teenage years, which mainly focus on his training, while the second part takes place two and a half years after Naruto finished his training. During this time, Naruto has to prevent an enemy from receiving great power.

This is termed the Naruto Run.

My Hero Academia

This anime focuses on a young boy named Izuku Midoriya, who is a Quirk, or someone who has no powers in a world where nearly everyone has a power. Even then, Izuku still dreams of becoming a hero. Due to his determination to become a hero, Japan’s greatest hero seeks him out after recognizing his potential, and helps him enroll in a high school for heroes in training.

Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z

These first anime in this series, Dragon Ball, follows a boy named Son Goku, from his childhood all the way to his adulthood. During this time, he is training in martial arts, as well as searching for seven orbs known as the Dragon Balls, which can summon a wish-granting dragon for the finder when the entire collection is found. During his journey to find these orbs, he makes many friends, as well as enemies. The second anime, Dragon Ball Z, is also focused on Son Goku, but now it also focuses on Son Goku’s son, Gohan, as well as the development of his rival Vegeta. He continues searching for the Dragon Balls, while fending off enemies with the help of is son.

Tokyo Ghoul

This anime takes place in a world where ghouls, organisms similar to humans, live. Ghouls look exactly like humans, but they must feed on human flesh in order to survive; to do this, they live amongst the human population. Ghouls are extremely hard to hunt down because they have enhanced strength as well as regenerative abilities, although several government-related organizations have made it their goal to hunt down the ghouls. The story focuses on a college student named Ken Kaneki, who becomes a half-ghoul, a human with the organs of a ghoul that can also only survive by feeding on human flesh, after he discovers his girlfriend is a ghoul. Throughout the anime, he learns how to fit in as a ghoul with help from ghouls that manage a coffee shop named “Anteiku”.

Death Note

This anime focuses on a teenager named Light Yagami, who accidentally finds a mysterious otherworldly notebook with the name of “Death Note”. This notebook allows the user to kill anybody they want, as long as they know the target’s name and face. At first, Light is terrified of the notebook, but eventually he attempts to use the notebook to achieve a utopian society without crime.

Attack On Titan

This anime takes place in a world where the human population lives within territories that are surrounded by three walls, in order to prevent humans from being eaten by gigantic human-eating humanoids known as Titans. The story revolves around Eren Yeager, whose hometown is attacked by Titans. After his father goes missing and his mother dies, he, his foster sister, and his best friend enroll in the military, determined to wipe out the Titans. Later in the anime, he discovers he can control and transform into a Titan, as well as several of the other soldiers who want to take control of Eren’s powers as he is extremely powerful. The anime continues with battles being fought in order to destroy the Titans.

Pokemon

This anime is more geared toward younger audiences. It is staged in a world where Pokemon, organisms that can perform attacks based on its master’s instructions, exist. The anime focuses on a boy named Ash Ketchum, who dreams of becoming a Pokemon master, or a person with experience in training Pokemon. He works toward his goal by journeying throughout the different regions in his world and catching Pokemon, as well as having matches against other Pokemon; throughout his journey, he also continuously defeats Team Rocket, a group of Pokemon trainers obsessed with world domination.

In addition to being a anime series, Pokemon is also a video game series. This picture is taken from the video game Pokemon Emerald.
