I always ask myself what the hell is wrong with some people. Whenever they refer to another webpage I see links like this one: "example.com" or "http://example.com". If the website supports HTTPS why don't you write the link with an 's' after http like "https://example.com"? You just need to type one more single letter and everyone is safe. "But the secure websites redirect to HTTPS anyway!" Yes, that's true for some websites. But not every website does this.

Whenever you want to send a link to someone or post something on the web, check if HTTPS is supported on the website you want to link to. If it does, use "https://" if it doesn't, use "http://".

A more Secure Web

Why do people still use depricated encryption? Because they don't know how it works. People who don't know what they are doing should better ask someone who knows more on that topic instead of being a try hard.

What is HTTPS?

HTTPS protects your website from script kiddies, increases trust in your website and ensures that the stupid customer really communicates with the right website.

"I have HTTPS! You can't hack me now!"

Do I really need HTTPS?

It depends. If you want pissed off customers go for http. But about 90% of the people just don't care. "Oh, my bank doesn't support HTTPS? Anyway, I'm just here to check my balance." *types in cc information* "Where is all my Money? Stupid computer!"

Is HTTPS always secure?

No. Many Websites just don't care how secure the customer is. They don't care about privacy. They just want to have a website without knowing what they are doing.

How do I protect myself from these insecure Websites?

Make sure you always have the latest version of your web browser and stop using internet explorer!

Random Conversation

Me: "If your website processes personal information I strongly advise you to use HTTPS."

Other guy: "I don't think our website needs HTTPS. We have built our own secure system without HTTPS." HAHAHAHAHA
