The Dannebrog

Denmark, otherwise know as The Kingdom of Denmark is a Nordic country located in south scandinavia which consists of the Jutland peninsula and a archpelago of 443 islands, the largest of which being Zealand, Funen and the North Jutlandic Island. The mainland, and the islands are usually flat with arable land and sandy coasts with a temperate climate. Denmark is located north of Germany and South of Sweden and Norway.

Denmark consisted of Germanic settlers who eventually became a seafaring people who wanted to take find new lands as the current homelands were overpopulated. This lead to the partially forceful raids and settlements in the British Isles and in France. Denmark was partially unified in the 10th Century by Harald Bluetooth (yes the bluetooth symbol is named after him), it then became an empire which at its height controlled Norway and England under King Canute, within a few decades these territories were lost and the Danes decided to colonise Estonia instead, the Dannebrog as its national flag, came into existence during one of these battles in Estonia, in 1219. Denmark then became the leader of a Personal Union of themselves, Sweden and Norway, in whats known as the Kalmar Union, however this split up a century later. Denmark eventually started looking inwards to improving their own standards of living, and now as a result they have the highest standards of living and are one of the happiest countries in the world.

The flag of Denmark (Dannebrog) is a red with a white Scandinavian cross that extends to the edges of the flag; the vertical part of the cross is shifted to the hoist side. By legend, this flag was adopted in 1219 and is one of the oldest flags in the world, it also fell from the sky. Dannebrog stands for "Danish Cloth"

On the flag, the white color represents the symbol for Christianity. The red symbolises strength and courage, fearlessness and the white symbolises truth and especially peace.
