Magic Number

Welcome to the Magic Number mind reading trick developed by Mark Foxx. You'll be asked to do a few tasks before I reveal to you the number you're thinking.

When I originally developed this code it had a section on how it was done, but I removed it for you to analyse factors, learn from it, and try on friends - a link is provided if you really want to know more.

Think of a number between 1 and 10, and keep it in mind without sharing it with anyone. This number must be a whole number, and mustn't have a floating point. Please note that you'll have to refer to this number later for a task.

Using the first number you were asked to choose between 1 and 10, you must now multiple it by 2. Do the calculations, and remember it for the next step.

The number you previously multiplied by 2 should now be multiplied by 5. Here's where we are so far for brevity: your number * 2 = something * 5. Like the last task remember this result for later.

From the previous result after multiplying it by 5, please divide this number by the first number you chose between 1 and 10 to begin with. We're nearly there now, and remember this number.

Ok, so you got this far and that's great. This is the final step where you now subtract 2 from the previous result. When you're ready, go ahead and reveal the magic number I'm fairly confident I know!
