International Business Machine(IBM) is a United States multinational technology and consulting firm headquartered in Armonk,Newyork founded in 1911, IBM Manufacture and sales computer hardware and software and it offers infrastructure, hosting and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframecomputers to nanotechnology .

In 2010, IBM was ranked the 20th largest firm in US by Fortune and 33rd largest globally by Forbes.Other ranking that year includes Green Company(News week),Company for leaders(Fortune) and most innovative company(Fast Company). IBM employs almost four lakh employees ( called "IBMers" by IBM ) in over 200 countries with occupations including Scientists,Engineers,Consultant and product branding;has given it the Nickname BigBlues .

IBM holds more pattents than any US based technology company and nine research laboratory worldwide. It employees have gained 5 Nobel Prizes and 4 Turning awards , 9 National medals of technology and 5 National medals of science The company has gone several organisational changes. Since its inspection,acquiring companies like SPSS(2008) and PWC Consulting(2002) and spinning of companies like SAP(1972) and Lexmarks(1991) .
