Content Creation Guidelines

SoloLearn is a community of coders of all ages who come together to learn; interact with each other; grow professionally and personally; and both provide help to and receive help from their peers. Mutual acceptance and respect are core SoloLearn values that have been nurtured by our community from day one. With that in mind, we ask all community members to follow these simple rules in order to create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable, creative, and appreciated.

SoloLearn's policies are based on two key principles:

Posts by SoloLearn community members should be programming-related and aimed at helping individual learners and community members improve their programming skills by creating a respectful resource base. Posts may also focus on improving aspects of the platform and providing the community with improved content, whenever applicable.Personal attacks or disparagement of other users or their content is not tolerated. Every community member should be respectful and considerate, and assume that other people are also trying to make SoloLearn a great development resource. This means respecting opposing or differing opinions, beliefs, and conclusions; making an effort to listen to and understand others with whom you may disagree; and encouraging others to also be welcoming and respectful.

If your content/post is not specifically on-topic, it can be deleted. There are two types of content deletions on SoloLearn:

Deletions made by the user who added the post. After adding a post, the original poster has a grace period during which he or she is permitted to delete the post.Deletions made to questions by SoloLearn moderators, in case:Content is created with the purpose of attracting spam content.Posts that are incoherent or otherwise impossible to answer meaningfully, and would not be improved by straightforward edits.Posts that focus on the promotion of a product or service.Posts that include inappropriate language, content, or reference.

In the Q&A Discussions section, all other content, except for Q&A:

Content that is merely poorly composed or unclear should be improved or tagged for improvement, rather than removed.

The feed post is a space for every member of our community to share anything code-related with followers, and it is a "moderation free" zone. However, there are simple rules that members should follow. Before posting any content in your feed post, please make sure that it is appropriate for a diverse audience and refrain from posting content that includes:

Content, language, photos, images, or references that are inappropriate or offensive;Content that encourages or incites violence;Personally identifiable information.

Please note that our moderation team reserves the right to remove posts that violate these rules.

If you feel your question/post has been unfairly deleted, or you have any questions concerning these rules, please contact us via info@sololearn.com.

Policy for Using Upvote/Downvote Option

The Community chooses the best and the worst content/members using its right to upvote and downvote code samples, posts, answers, comments, etc. While an upvote is a reflection of one’s attitude to the content, a downvote is mainly used to keep SoloLearn safe and interesting. Here are the cases when the downvote is eligible:

Posts/answers comments that can be considered as spam Incorrect and misleading answers Answers/comments that do not match the question Cases of plagiarism Other cases that contradict the guidelines

Deliberately downvoting content created by a certain user to express your attitude to the user or downvoting content that doesn’t violate our rules and policies may be considered as suspicious activity and lead to blocking the account.

You can choose to block a user to avoid seeing his/her activities. You also have the ability to report a user when his/her activity violates community rules.

If any member violates any of the above guidelines, the administrators and moderators reserve the right to remove the content or suspicious downvote activity. A notice will be sent to the posting/suspiciously downvoting member.

Any continuous violation of these rules will result in a permanent ban of the particular member’s account. The administrators and moderators will apply appropriate measures, depending on the rules that have been violated.

Personally identifiable information

Personally identifiable information (PII) is any content, data, or material that could be used to identify you or someone else. This type of data includes any information or material that could distinguish one person from another, or anything that could be used to compromise the anonymity of other information.
PII is defined as information that 1) directly references someone (for example, name, address, social security number or other identifying number or code, telephone number, email address, etc.) or 2) indirectly references someone (information that could be used to identify an individual when combined with other information). For example, information like gender, race, birth date, geographic indicator, or other descriptors could be combined to with other information to personally identify someone.

Any information you share in our community (including personal information) is, by design, open to the public and is not private. Think carefully before sharing any personally identifiable information in any public place.

Remember that information shared here, and in any online community, can be seen, disclosed to, or collected by third parties and may be used by others in ways we cannot control or predict, including to contact you for unauthorized purposes. As with any public forum on any site, the information you post may also show up in third-party search engines.
If you unintentionally post personal information in our community, we have the right to remove the post to protect your personally identifiable information.

Content Ownership and Right to Post

You retain ownership of and responsibility for the content you create, including, but not limited to, codes, posts, quizzes, and lessons. You also allow us certain rights that enable us to display and share your posted content. You retain control over your content, and you are responsible for it. The rights you grant to us are limited to those needed to provide the service. We have the right to remove content or close accounts, if necessary.

If you're posting anything you did not create yourself, you agree that you will only submit content that you have the right to post, and you will fully comply with any third-party licenses relating to content you post.
