My favorite tools

This is purely opinion based and does not determine the best tools in the market.

As web developers, there are some basic processes that are essential in every application we build. To ease the stress from these monotonous tasks, there are several softwares created for various platforms. I primarily develop on Windows and below are some of my favorite softwares.

Visual Studio Code - Text editor

Has IntelliSense, Git support and is easily customizable. In addition, it has an amazing bunch of add-ons. It is free and built on Electron by Microsoft.

PrePos - Pre-process web files

Compiles Dart Sass, Ruby Sass, Less, Babel and more. Minifies css, js and svg. Has bundlejs pre-included too. Also as a built-in server for development purposes.

Chrome devtools - Built-in browser developer tools

Responsive mode view for popular devices, JavaScript V8 engine REPL console, network requests and responses logging, inspect DOM elements, run accessibility test, JavaScript debugger, inspect locally stored data, toggle offline mode, toggle print mode and many more.

Brotli - Compression

Compresses most types of web files losslessly. Of particular interest is that it can compress ttf files well unlike gzip. It is supported in major browsers except IE. You might consider configuring your server in such a way that it falls back to gzip if Brotli is not supported.

Adobe Illustrator + IcoMoon - Vector graphics

Adobe Illustrator has the option to optimize svg for web. It is also easy to use. Still, a major drawback is that Illustrator, unlike Inkscape, can not create defs and symbols for sprites. So I use IcoMoon website for that.
