The Major Scale

(or Ionian scale) is one of the most commonly used musical scales, especially in Western music. It is considered the root mode or scale for most Western music

The above graphic chart represents the intervals of the Major scale. In this case we are using the C MAJOR scale (C D E F G A B). The red represents the root note and the blue represents the other notes within the scale

To find the MAJOR scale in any key we can use the following whole/halftone pattern starting from any root note of the "chromatic scale C D♭ C♯ D E♭ D♯ E F G♭ F♯ G A♭ G♯ A B♭ A♯ B C" since All Major scales follow this exact pattern: W W H W W W H (whole, whole, half, whole, whole, whole, half). The following figure represents the C major scale as played on a guitar using tablature notation.
