Database Operations - Other Keywords

There are many different keywords used in Database queries, these can form certain criteria and clauses.

WHERE

The WHERE keyword filters a result set to include only records that fulfill a specified condition. The Query is below:

                        
                            SELECT * FROM Flags
WHERE Country='England';

The AS command is used to rename a column or table with an alias.

                        
                            SELECT countryID AS ID, capitalCity AS city
FROM Flags;

FROM

The FROM command is used to specify which table to select or delete data from.


                            SELECT countryName, capitalCity FROM Flags;

The IN command allows you to specify multiple values in a WHERE clause. The IN operator is a shorthand for multiple OR conditions.

                        
                            SELECT * FROM Flags
WHERE countryName IN ("Romania","Hungary","Poland");

ORDER BY

The ORDER BY command is used to sort the result set in ascending or descending order.

                        
                            SELECT * FROM Flags
ORDER BY countryName;
