About Dolphin Tale: Inspired by the Amazing True Story of Winter

Swimming free, a young dolphin was caught in a crab trap, rescued and transported to Clearwater Marine Hospital, where she was named Winter. Damage from the crab trap rope causes her tail to degrade and, without a tail, Winter’s prognosis is dire. Hi all, i am anon. this is one of my favorite movies.actually i am a peace loving person. so i this kind of true story based movies more.i know this movie was publish a cuple of yearsvago.some may call it old or somthing.but goodness never dies.many people may find bad contents in english movie. but it depends on you to find the good one.....you may say it is one of these...Also the most interesting part is you can see the dolphines of the movie in the website => www.seewinter.com....

Charecter Detail

Sawyer Nelson is a main character in Dolphin Tale. He is a good friend of Winter after being her founder. He is a nice, animal loving teen who developed a close bond with Winter and became her best friend. He is portrayed by Nathan Gamble. Sawyer's dad seems to be dead or away, which could have affected his childhood, triggering depression as teenager. Sawyer was on his way to summer school one day when Winter was beached and caught in crab trap. Sawyer had his trusty pocket knife with him, so he cut Winter free. When CMA came he met Hazel for the first time. After school he stopped at the aquarium to see it. After a few days he became an employee because he was the only one Winter liked.

Hazel Haskett is another main character in Dolphin Tale. Hazel was first seen as a worker in the aquarium whose only friends are animals, until meeting Sawyer, Hazel became more social and less shy. Hazel is portrayed by Cozi Zuehlsdorff.Hazel is an only child who's mother has passed away. Hazel's mom is not talked about very much, in fact Dr. Clay only has mentioned her once or twice. Hazel is a stubborn girl (assuming she got that from mom,) who knows what all ya'll should be doing. Dr. Clay calms her down easily, but that might not have been the same for mom. Hazel is most likely to be so talkative because she has a very weak social status. Hazel is a sweet, caring girl, who grew up around dolphins too. Her expertise in marine animals is very sharp.

Winter was found stranded in Mosquito Lagoon, near Cape Canaveral, Florida when she was only two months old, entangled in a crab trap line which cut off circulation to her tail flukes. After disentanglement, she was transported to Clearwater Marine Aquarium for treatment of her extensive injuries. However, despite exhaustive efforts to promote healing, her tail deteriorated and could not be saved. Her story is unusual – most dolphins trapped in monofilament and crab trap lines do not survive. Despite overwhelming odds against survival, Winter’s energy and ability to adapt to her new physical form surpassed expectations. She recovered completely, adapted to a new swim pattern and learned to eat fish on her own… about 12 pounds a day!
