The Developer

"Finally!", the developer sighs. After 6 hours of debugging, he was seriously considering a new profession.

He had wanted to become a coder since childhood. Movies such as The Matrix and Tron had only served to reinforce the image that coding was "cool" and "easy" in some way. A fancyful representation of grim reality...

He gets up, stretching long-stiff muscles as he does so, and walks to the office coffee-machine. Rows of developers line the crisp, white office-building. Each of them caught up in their own personal struggles.

Reaching the coffee-machine, he dispenses a cup of steaming Java. Carefully sipping the hot liquid, his mind dwells somewhere else. It dwells on the struggle

"Damn. Keeping us in one place like sheep doesn't seem to be all. Even my mind is trapped"

The coffee-break provided temporary relief, but now it was time to go back

"Hell has nothing on this", he says as he trudges along

The endless rows

No rest

The white walls all around him

The white lights blind him
