First semester of computational systems career

In Mexico

Probably you have heard lots of rumors about this career like: "it's really hard", "you need to be good in math", "only genius people can handle this".

Or maybe you're very confused cause you have heard names of other careers with relation and you don't know what's the difference.

I want to talk about this in this little space I have and I'll do all the possible to help you to take a decision about this hard moment you are having.

The only thing you need to know is that programming has not a lineal path

In my school the english is a required subject to be graduated as an engineer but I took previous courses of English before and that helped me to not take it in university, maybe you can do the same in your case.

At the beggining you can think, why do I need to take subjects like Ethics or administration? well... believe me, they're very important for an engineer, these thoughts are very common at the start of your adventure but with the time I understood that as an Engineer in systems I'll have to work with lots of persons, I mean, all the areas you can imagine need programmers and if you don't know how to deal with different people of the laboral world, you're going to be in a big problem, that's why you have to learn more about how the companies work and not only to be focus in your little bubble.

Once we have explained this, there is something more, math. Are you bad in math?, do you think it is hard to deal with it? if that is your case, take it easy, it is true that we take math subjects but it is not as hard as most of the people think, everything is hard when you're starting something new in your life, but if you practice and study enough I'm sure you'll be able to control it. I want to tell you that I always thought I was bad in math, the most time of my life I thought I wasn't good enough for it. You know what changed? I changed, I realized I wasn't bad at all in math, we sometimes just don't take the enough time to practice and understand what we are watching in the school, the people only see but don't watch, the people only hear but don't listen, you can be as good as you want if you work hard.

Now we are going to talk about the names of the careers.

You want to know what's the difference
between the other careers' names? well...
that, the names. You don't have to study to
be an engineer. You wannna be a programmer?
that's good! but there's a lot of areas where
you can work!, for example:
-Web development
-Mobile apps
-Desk apps
-Machine learning
-Artificial intellegence
-Videogames
-Operative systems
and much more.

You're going to have a base of how this works but the rest of the work it is up to you. You have to search the nearest career of what you want to do, maybe that is not a garantee that's the correct career for you but don't be afraid to fail, you have to investigate, to learn and to grow. You'll see how everytime you're a taller tree, I know you can do this. Maybe you're learning something that you don't like in school but that is not meaning that you can't be good in the area you want
