Scope defines that where variables and functions are accessible inside your code.
There are two types of scope in JavaScript:
• Global Scope
• Local Scope
When you begin writing code in JavaScript, you are already in the GLOBAL SCOPE. Anything written in the global scope is accessible anywhere in your JavaScript code but in LOCAL SCOPE variables are only visible and accessible within their local scopes (where they are defined i.e. inside a function). Each function in JavaScript creates a LOCAL SCOPE and the varibles inside it are accessible within the function.

NOw, lets discuss this by taking example of the code written above or in javascript section.

Since the variable NAME is globally scoped and hence, it is accessible within and also outside a function which means everywhere in the code. When you click the button below, it will show the value of both the variables named as NAME and LOCAL.

On the other hand, the variable LOCAL is locally scoped and hence, it is accessible only within the function not anywhere else. Now if you try to call the variable LOCAL out side its function where it is not define by clicking the button below then it is not accessible. It will show an ERROR on the console.

As we have seen the variable NAME can be used inside the function showName() and we can use it outside the function which you can see in the code that we have call it to display its value on console.
