ABOUT ME

My name is Shay and I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I left home at 18 and spent the next 5 years traveling to and living in different places. Here's a short list of some of the major places I've laid my head:

After I graduated from high school I moved to Atlanta to attend the ILLUSTRIOUS Spelman College where I graduated with in BA in Women's Studies. The concentration for that major was Digital Media and documenting women. After graduating from Spelman in May 2018, I began my graduate to earn a MSEd in Diversity and Equity in Education with an emphasis on English as a Second Language.

In the middle of my graduate program, I moved to China to teach English to Chinese students at a university in Northern China. That experience was cut short due to the developments of COVID 19 which caused me to move back to the US where I work as an Education Consultant. I sit at the intersection of education and tech. My goal is two-fold: I want to create aesthetically pleasing applications and build educational programs to help make education more accessible.
